Used to be lots of talk of the paperless future, in which businesses would cease to keep paper records. Is your business anywhere near being paperless? How do you use technology to reduce piles of paper clutter?

I operate a travel agency from home. I have not been able to go completely paperless, but I have made the attempt to cut back on the printing and filing. I do however, keep a computer copy of all faxes and confirmations by date of travel for my clients on a K drive. This K drive is an external hard drive that I purchased separately from my computer. In addition, I use my Outlook calender to keep track of appointments, payment dates and other dates of importance.

Before I converted to this method, I was probably killing a tree a day with the paper I filed.

The company I work for specializes in paperless medical records so there is a huge push for us to adapt that in our offices. It is really a great thing for not only the environment but for office space as well. It gives you the information you need at the click of a mouse rather than having to go searching through file cabinet after file cabinet.
