Spaghetti Sauce

  • My husband has been bugging me to make pasta sauce from scratch. That's not something my family ever did, so I don't exactly have grandma's recipe... Anyone have an easy recipe I could try??

  • Sure thing. My recipe is easy. I just slice an onion, and chop a couple cloves of garlic. Then I sautee the onion over a medium heat until it is translucent and starting to brown on the edges. While the onion is cooking I blend up a can of whole canned tomatoes (not too smooth though, because I like it a little chunky) Then I add the garlic. When the garlic is golden brown I add the tomatoes. Then I start adding spices. I add oregano, parsley, and basil (fresh if I have it), salt and pepper. I don't measure my spices I just add until I think it tastes good. Sometimes I add cayenne pepper too...it makes it a little spicy. I just made this recipe up one night, so I have no idea what other people do for their sauce....Also we're vegetarian so we don't do meat in our sauce. Hope that helps...at least it's a start.

  • I like to drag mine through the garden...........I use canned or frozen tomatoes now I cook my sauce all day. I add tomatoe paste, oregano, garlic, onions, onion powder, a little salt pepper, basil, and a little brown sugar. I make enough that I can it or freeze it.
