Lunch for daycare

  • I need some new ideas for lunch for daycare for my daughter. Right now in rotation:

    pasta with anything
    cream cheese and jelly sandwich
    turkey and cheese sandwich

    that's pretty much it

Any other ideas? (she is pretty picky, unfortunately...)

  • oh me too! My son is also very picky. I even send stuff in that he won't eat at home because I feel like he is more likely to try something at school - maybe because all the other kids have something different? I do the usual pasta, sandwiches, chicken nuggets, various leftovers. I am constantly trying to think of new things! I have tried english muffin pizza, quesadillas, french toast sticks.

There was an article in Parents Magazine awhile back that had a ton of ideas - with pictures! If only I'd saved it ... :)

  • Wow. That's new to me. My daycares (4 homes, 1 center, 1 church center) always provided lunches once the kids ate table food.

I guess it depends on your state. KS has a lunch program for daycare providers to deduct food expenses. . .but I would think most states would do something. Hmmm.

  • Great question! I am always trying to find new daycare lunches for my 3 year old as well. I look forward to picking up some ideas from everyone.

    Here is my rotation:

Annie's Homegrown Mac and Cheese (the instant kind)
    Mini- bagel pizzas
    Cheese and wheat crackers
    Mini cheese ravoli

When desperate, I also have packed him Chef Boyardee Spaghetti Rings with Meatballs Microwavable Bowls!

Also, whenever I feel inspired, I go to Whole Foods Market site for kid-friendly recipes for lunch: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/list_kids. html#lunch
