I'm a new Mom trying to juggle working at home and having a young baby. In the past year and a half I have gotten married, graduated college, and had a baby. I am trying to build up a business as a spanish/english translator. My husband is a teacher...so we get by, but we could always use more money. I also want to continue to keep my skills sharp, because I know I'm not going to want to stay home forever. I'm interested in making friends and networking with other inspired mamas!

We are pretty much once a week shoppers, because I like having fresh veggies in the house. However, I believe we just passed the two week mark today, and still have meals for the rest of the week. It really has been nice not going to the store this week, but it means that we're eating canned or frozen veggies instead. What about your family? How often do you shop and why?

At least 2 times a week. Once to the food coop and once to the supermarket. Oh, and on Sundays my husband goes out and gets the paper and incidentals.

I do major grocery shopping once a pay period (2 weeks). But after 1 week I need more milk, bread, eggs, and produce.

I am the very proud mother of a too-cute-for-words one year old son! My job has me commuting an hour each way, but I do work from home one day a week and get to see hubby and son as soon as they get home! My hubby takes our son to/from the onsite daycare where he works and is able to spend an hour or two bonding (i.e. wrestling)before i get home! :)

seems randomly... i bet if i would actually meal plan i could probably get the shopping down to once a month and then just run out for fresh stuff once a week! we tend to do a lot of frozen/canned - though lately trying to do more fresh since we are at the store fairly often anyway! hahaha

man that would be really nice to do a major grocery shopping only once a month, and then just going back for fresh stuff once a week. Hmmm...I may have to work on this.

I do main grocery shopping every 2 weeks. But milk and produce I do weekly. We buy bulk so some things I get on a 3 month basis. Like paper products and can goods. We also buy a 1/2 cow and 1 pig a year and put it in the freezer. This means I don't have to buy alot of meat at the grocery store. Because we know who raises the cow and pig I know that there are no additives or hormones added to the meat. I make my own bread. I try to save money as much as I can. I was a sahm for years and we lilved on a military income at the time so I learn to make stuff from scratch and save money. Even though I have been working fulltime for years. I have learned to still use some of the things I learned as a sahm and have nice meals on a low budget.

I shop once a week for perishables, milk and fresh produce. I do a big shop in the city every 6-8 weeks and stock up on things that keep or go in the freezer.
