Frozen veggie ideas?

  • Anyone have good ways to include frozen veggies in meals? It's a budget-wise thing of mine -- frozen is so much cheaper. But apart from adding them to pasta sauces, what are some other good ways to use them?

  • I try to save frozen for the winter months, when fresh is even more expensive... I find they work fine in soups (I use frozen peas as mini nutritious "ice cubes" to cool down soups and stews or even stir-fries, anywhere where you can hide the mush texture. Some veggies, though, like broccoli and carrots, I can't choke down frozen. Others, like corn and peas, are frozen staples around here...

  • We usually serve them just as they are packaged (after boiling of course). But another idea is to stir-fry selected veggies with eggs and a bit of onion, and serve with toast. Easy, healthy, quick, cheap, and it's tastier than it sounds!

  • I really like both of those ideas. I too can't do frozen broccoli though I've tried a few times. Has anyone tried frozen asparagus? I've been to scared to give it a whirl.
