What makes you feel beautiful?

Not being a hair and makeup girl myself, thinking about that stuff makes me feel ugly...I always end up looking worse when I try to make myself over. I don't know about you, but I hate to feel ugly. Anyway, I do have something that makes me feel beautiful though. My sister painted a picture of me when I was pregnant, and it is one of the most gorgeous paintings I've ever seen. I just love knowing that that's how someone else saw me (at a time when I didn't think that I looked that great). It's hanging in my bedroom, and I love to see it. What makes you feel gorgeous?Flag as inappropriate Posted by mamajama on 22nd April 2008

I´m not into makeup either, but I do like it if my hair doesn´t have flyaway wisps all over.

For me, I feel beautiful when I´m wearing jeans and a tank top that aren´t covered in little grubby fingerprints and food stains. Pretty simple, but since I´m at home most of the time, I tend to wear my older clothes because I know they´ll get dirty, but when we are going out, I put on my nice clothes and feel very lovely.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Genesis on 22nd April 2008 -
I'm with you, Genesis. I feel beautiful when I can get dressed up and not have to worry about getting cookie crumb finger prints on me. I usually wear basic, easy care clothes because I know that something will find it's way onto my clothing. I go to a mommy book club meeting (no kids allowed) one Saturday night a month and get to dress like a lady and have some free time time with other working moms. I think that's when I feel most beautiful.Flag as inappropriate Posted by peytonjacksmama on 23rd April 2008

I don't have the time to be "pretty" and can relate to the no makeup just keep hair neat practice.
But, when I need to perk myself up and feel beautiful I pamper myself with a manicure and pedicure. And, if I have the time, a massage. Having someone take care of me for a while and walking out feeling refreshed helps me glow from the inside out.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Michele on 23rd April 2008 -
On a workday, the worse I feel the more dressed up I get. It's almost subconscious -- almost. I usually notice I'm doing it right about the time I'm trying to slide on some eyeliner while my 1 1/2 year old is grabbing my leg... I rarely wear makeup at all, and almost never during the day, so that's a clear sign for me!
That said, I guess gussying up my outside self -- the one I present to the world -- makes me feel a little better when I'm having a bad day. Not the same as feeling beautiful, but a good sub.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Lylah M. Alphonse on 24th April 2008 -
Yeah...If y'all have the answer to that just let me know cause seriously it get so confusing! Ok, I have always had junk in the trunk. I mean I am a black woman and that's just how we are built. I have also always been single. Then at the beginning of the year I woke up and I was the big 30 and OMG! SO I decided I was going to loose some weight and see where that would take me. Ok Fast forwrd 4 months later and 30 pounds lighter...I meet this oh so yummy man and isn't it ironic...he doesn't like skinny. What is it that he said to me? Simply put...I don't do skinny! hmmm, what a lesson. All too often in life we spend our time running around trying to be something other than what you are. Then you have an experience like the one I had. So what makes me feel beautiful? The realisation that I am beautiful just the way I am! would have liked to have known that 30 pounds ago! tehehehehe!Flag as inappropriate Posted by Patricia Makhulo on 24th April 2008
