Anyone have any recommendations for movies (new or not-so-new) out on dvd that I should rent?
We just saw I Am Legend. It was pretty good I thought. Didn't care for the clear end though. I like for movies to be 100% resolved.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Marcia on 22nd August 2008 -
I saw I am legend,it was alright, but not what I expected.I loved disney's the game plan, that was a funny movie.I'm more in to horror movies though. Some of my favorites were underworld one and two.All three of the blade movies, and all three of the jurassic park movies. If you want something for the whole family most of the Disney movies, all three of the Shrek movies,Evan Almighty, and definatly Happy Feet.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Regina on 25th August 2008

I've seen all of those too. We always seem to watch Jurassic Park III for some reason. We've seen the others, but I guess since it's the last one out it's on more. I thought Evan Almighty was really cute. My daughter likes almost anything animated. I also like horror movies and also I'm really into natural disaster movies.
Has anyone seen the newest Saw movie? I heard it was out, but I don't think I've even seen previews. It would be Saw IV.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Marcia on 26th August 2008 -
I could not bring myself to watch any of the saw movies, but my oldest daughter has watched them,I'll ask her abbout the last one.Have you ever seen any of the grudge movies. The first one was good, but I could not quite get through the second one.I would watch the beginning fall asleep in the middle, and wake up at the end.My sister in law told me that there is a new underworld movie coming out in January.I'm trying to get up enough nerve to watch that one movie shutter.Has anyone seen it,how was it.I love to watch horror movies, but not when I'm alone.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Regina on 28th August 2008

The grudge movies creep me out haha. The Ring does too! I haven't seen Shutter either but that's one that I do want to see eventually.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Marcia on 28th August 2008

The ring was a bit scary to.Every time I tried to watch the grudge,I would get up at the scary parts. As soon as one of us sees the shutter we have to let the other know.I want to try and see it this weekend,I think it's on pay per veiw,or I control.Jurassic Park 3 is on sci fi saturday.Have you seen constantine,or the covenant, they weren't to bad.Unfortunatly I don't have to many movies of my own, most of the movies I have are my kids.Between the Bring it on movies that belong to my daughter, and most of the cartoon, and comedys, that belong to my son.The only other movies that he has are Alien vs predator, all of thhe Harry Potter, and most of the movies that they made from some of the comic book super heros.I need an update of my own collection.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Regina on 29th August 2008

I've seen shutter yesterday,it was all right but not what I expected.I was expecting it to be a bit more scary then what it was. There is a movie in theaters that I want to see called mirrors that looks good.I'd probably have to wait til it comes out on DVD.I hope it is as good as it looks.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Regina on 31st August 2008

I just found this site, and look forward to visiting often!
We just saw a couple of great movies: "Two Days in Paris" is a Woody Allen-ish comedy about a young couple (he's American, she's French) visiting in her hometown of Paris, dealing with the parents and all things French. It was very funny! It stars Juliet Binoche, who also wrote and maybe directed... she is one talented woman.
With our son, we watched "Amazing Grace," a fairly serious affair about the slave trade and those who fought to see it end (story is set in England). Our son is in the 6th grade, a good age for the topic... It was very good, although a bit "Masterpiece Theater-ish" at times. Might be too chewy for some kids.
I am in the process of launching a new blog, devoted to kids and movies -- how to avoid the Pixar and Disney pit we all fall into. I write about old classics, foreign films, docs, and more. I don't know if I'm allowed to post the address here, but I will tell you (in case that gets deleted here), that the title is KidsFlix dot blogspot dot com. I haven't given the url out yet to friends yet, even, but this seems like a good place to start. I look forward to exploring this site more, nice work!

I like most of the Disney Pixar DVD's.But I am game to other ideas.I'm one of those people that if I see something that I like I will buy it,or rent it first to see if I like it before I buy it.If it holds no interest, then I won't get it.But if it is something that I have to keep watching all the time, then you have a sale.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Regina on 5th September 2008

Hi Regina!
What are the "bring it on" movies you referred to?? Maybe it's a girl thing?!
I have a son, no daughters ... which is kinda cool, as I don't go for girly stuff too much. my husband and i both have fun watching things like old Godzilla movies and classic war films with Keeg (Bridge Over River Kwai; Patton; etc; funny as we are total peacenikky people!). .. think girls would go for those? i wonder....
