Just because we are members of the Greenies group (which makes me laugh because when I was younger, my friends and I would go to a certain "liquor lounge" and order a pitcher of Greenies, which was something horrible like vodka with green food coloring-makes me shutter to think of it now!)
Anyway...just because we are members of this group, choose to recycle, do our part, etc., it doesn't necessarily mean we all believe that global warming is actually happening. (I do) In fact, I had hired a content writer for my web biz, and she refused to write about global warming because she didn't believe in it. It was unprofessional for me to "assume" she would be willing to write on the topic of GW.
Here's what kinda bugs me- I studied global warming, habitat destruction and all that jazz- in college in the early 90's. No one took it serious- at all- to them we were just a bunch of wacked out environmental studies students claiming humans were destroying the earth.
Fast forward to now- certain celebrities and Hollywood in general have decided to "go green" and all of a sudden someone important or popular says "global warming is really happening so now everyone stand up and listen..."
Basically what I am saying is- it bothers me that it took so long for everyone to realize the effects of global warming, and that no one jumped on the bandwagon until someone from our pop culture/media started talking about it. Better late than never, I guess.
Also, when I discuss GW with others that do not believe in it, I no longer get all wigged out and argumentative about it. I just say "better safe than sorry". Because isn't that true? If GW is really happening, and we don't do anything about it, and someday *poof* we are all gone, who will be around to argue about it?
It is late and I am rambling on and on...I hope I made some sort of sense. If not, forgive me, I am not myself today..
