For those of you who are married to the military, how do you juggle work and parenthood when your husband is deployed? If you're in the military yourself, what do you do when it's your turn?

I have been a military wife for over 18 years and I just take one day at a time. I have been through 6 major deployments and I still don't know how I can do it. I just do.

I don't think there is any one piece of advice that you can give. My hubby was deployed when my son was 2 months old. For the first half of his deployment (about 5 months) I went home and lived with my parents again, it was free babysitting and the support system I needed. At the time I was in California and all my family was in NY so it was really hard.

But when I went back to Cali, I realized I was a lot stronger then I ever gave myself credit for, and I became really close with a few of my neighbors (I lived on base) it was such a nice thing to have women who actually understood what I was going through and didn't ask me why I did, they just knew that it had to be done.

Now my husband is out of the Marine corps (so I guess I technically don't be long in this group, but I have been there done that type of thing) But I have the utmost respect for all of our military members and their families who support them! And THANK YOU!!!!

IN my eyes you (military wives) are the ULTIMATE MOMS and my hats off to eacch and every one of you and God Bless you and your spouses who give so unselfishly for the rest of us!
I was recently chattingon-line with a friend int he navy who is at sea. I told him that his wife is one of the most incredible women I know. I just went a 6 week stint with hubby abroad, while she deals with 6-months at sea annually PLUS the possibility of deployment with 3 little kids at home.
One thing I learned from my time alone was that I make it a point to call or email friends who have sposes in the military. If they are local then I stop in and offer to babysit - or just sit and visit. I cannot even imagine what it takes to get up each day for these ULTIMATE MOMS. my hats off to ya!
