My Mentor - yes a woman!

It has been a rare experience for me to have a woman mentor in my career. But, over the past year, there is one person that has stood out and been there to help me through a difficult transition and has become an avid supporter and advocate for me. I'll just call her V.
For some reason, without me saying anything, she knows when I am in need of guidance, support, and inspiration. She reminds me that I have value to my company, team, and her team. She helps me focus on what is important and move past what is a distraction. She brings out the best in me.
I didn't seek her out - as many say you should do to find a mentor. I don't know what I had shown day to day that made her show interest. I don't know why she helps and guides me as she does. Maybe I should ask. But, in the end, I appreciate all that V does and in return, I help support her goals as much as I can. Does it matter why she helps me?
