What do you do when you're in a rut?
-
I feel like I've been doing the same thing every single day for much much too long. I think I'm in a rut, and need something to break up the monotony! What do you ladies do to shake things up a bit and get some variety in your lives?Flag as inappropriate Posted by mamajama on 23rd October 2007

UGH, I hear that complaint. Try to get some ideas now before winter comes then you have options when you're feeling rutted. Um, don't mean rutted, do I?!? I try to take the girls out on a special outing: the zoo, a different park, even a different grocery store just to shake things up. Our zoo in Boston is open year round so we make many trips in the winter just to hang out with the gorillas. Children's story and play time at the library or Barnes and Noble (or other book store). Sometimes, if we're doing take out, we can only order a main dish we've never had before. This is a great question and I'm interested in what other mamas have to say. I know that come Feb I feel like I'm climbing the walls if I don't mix it up.Flag as inappropriate Posted by Mandy Nelson - Dandysound on 23rd October 2007

ooh this is a great questions (maybe you should also post it on Q&A?) because i have a hard time changing it up as well! i like schedule, but somedays i just want to do something NEW! every day is get up, get everyone ready, go to work, come home, have dinner, put the kiddo to bed, get on the laptops and work (ok hang out here) while watching TV and then go to bed. WOW that's so not exciting!! Weekends are better but still kinda the same ol' same ol' - this is why i love this time of year, the holidays give you a structure for ideas for stuff to do! pumkins, decorations, shopping, etc! i can't wait to see what other ideas folks have!!Flag as inappropriate Posted by Kate on 23rd October 2007

Glad to hear that you ladies can relate. I'm married to a man who loves and I do mean LOVES routine. I think this is wonderful, but sometimes I need a change...mostly he looks at me funny when I say that. A lot of times I'll try and cook something different to trick myself into thinking that that is enough...this week that isn't quite working for me. We're going out of town this weekend, but the weekend can't get here fast enough hahaha. I think I will try and go to the library or something along those lines though...or maybe visit a friend I haven't seen in a while. Even a walk would do me some good!Flag as inappropriate Posted by mamajama on 24th October 2007
