My Training Buddy

  • I've read through tons of Health magazines that say to find a partner or friend to workout with however none of my friends and I have the same schedules. My only workout buddy is my daughter. But I think I found the trick to losing weight while still playing with her.

Her new favorite pass time is swimming which is a great work out in itself so I started to look at work out systems for a pool and I was suprised to find very few were inexpensive and easy to use. I have a 5 year old on my hands I don't need a system which would take an engineer to put up nor did I want something permanently stuck to my pool.

I discovered a great piece of equipment on a swimmer’s forum, which has become my secret weapon. It’s a small, portable system called aquavee (cost me all of $120), which has helped my fitness levels enormously. I can roll out of bed - I don't even have to brush my teeth to go workout. I just throw on a bathing suit and jump in the pool. You kind of just stick it to the wall of your pool with suction cups, that I can deal with.

For a more intense workout and when I have more time (like on the weekends), I use the Pilates Plus version. The best thing about the pilates version is that I can work out for an hour with my daughter in her floaty laughing and swimming beside me. What gym or other exercise gives you that experience? While I can't claim to have lost 100 pounds, my clothes fit me so much better and my body looks toned. I feel strengthened and fabulous - and yes, I even look good in a bathing suit!
