I am married to the military, lol, I stay at home with my 5 year old son, working from home. I have finally found a business I can do , that I believe in. I live on Godly principles, am very caring and compassionate. I love sharing my life experiences with other women, so as to help them out.

I always thought that staying at home, was not my cup of tea. I would have much rather drive to an office everyday, i know, as weird as that may sound. But now that gas prices keep going up, and I'm a military wife, and has to move around, and have so much more responsibility now, i rather enjoy being able to just do what I do best, from home! How about you?

I am the very proud mother of a too-cute-for-words one year old son! My job has me commuting an hour each way, but I do work from home one day a week and get to see hubby and son as soon as they get home! My hubby takes our son to/from the onsite daycare where he works and is able to spend an hour or two bonding (i.e. wrestling)before i get home! :)

i dont think you are weird! i am the same way! but there are some days where i love the idea of just working from home full time. however, i love my drive time and my office setting. the drive allows my mind to transition from home to work and back and it keeps my 'office' self at the office instead of bring the stress and everything else home with me!

I'm a new Mom trying to juggle working at home and having a young baby. In the past year and a half I have gotten married, graduated college, and had a baby. I am trying to build up a business as a spanish/english translator. My husband is a teacher...so we get by, but we could always use more money. I also want to continue to keep my skills sharp, because I know I'm not going to want to stay home forever. I'm interested in making friends and networking with other inspired mamas!

Kate brings up a good point. It's hard to leave the office self at the office when you work from home, but I think I still would choose working from home. It's difficult to play both roles at once, but I don't think I would change it.

I used to drive an hour each way to work and I was under the impression that I loved having that time for myself - to catch up on phone calls, listen to music and learn Spanish!
But then I started working from home...and I can't say I miss the drive at all (especially with gas prices so high!). I probably chat on the phone less, but I still find time for myself and a LOT more time to play with my son.

I am a Canadian expat living in Guatemala. I am a work at home mom with two kids under two and a freelance writer.
It is not easy, but my husband was recently able to quit his teaching job to stay home and watch the boys while I work and focus on his night career as a musician, his true calling! I call that success. :D

I really enjoy working at home, but if I had a car, it might be nice to get out once in a while on my own. I certainly wouldn´t choose to drive to work if I didn´t have to though!

hands down work from home! I feel so blessed to be able to be there for my kids, volunteer weekly with them, handle the odd day time chore, and still bring home the bacon. for 13 years now I've commuted down the hall!
having said that: I DO enjoy the occasional dressy client lunch! lol

I'm 22. I graduated college at the age of 20 and had my first child one month after I turned 21. I own my own home and work full time as a CAD drafter/3d modeller.

I'd love to work from home making what I do now. I only live 2-3 blocks from my work, so there is no 'drive-transition' for me. When I was in college, I drove 2 hours each way. I didn't mind it though because it gave me the ME time I needed everyday and just clear my head. My job is a cubical job. I don't really interact with anyone (in person OR on the phone) unless I have a question or just general chit-chat. I just get so bored here. There are a million things to do at home and if I could run a business from there, I would. (No, I do not want to go into selling stuff or marketing companies to people that probably don't want me wasting their time.)

We own a biz that requires alot of driving (don't like) and I also work from home with Ameriplan. I absolutely love the days I am working from home, hands down!! I can get chores, errands done during the day when I take a break from working. Just LOVE the flexability offered with working from home. I am in eager anticipation for the day when we can sell or close our business and I can totally and completely work right from home.
I also enjoy walking I love to wake and go walking, working from home allows me this time!

I use to have a 2 hour compute everyday and I am very glad to be working from home. Ideally, the girls would go to daycare 2-3 days a week, so I could get some uninterrupted work time. . . .but juggling the girls and work is preferrable to working full-time out of the house with a commute.

Comments were fun to read. i don't have a choice-- my job has to happen out of the house. If I had a chance to work more flexible hours or work from home right now, I'd take it. Balancing my son's onging illness and special needs...well, it's meant too many sick days.

I'm a 31 year old mother and Civil Engineer who is trying to stay sane, have fun and figure things out. I'm a serious computer nerd, a techie and a gadget geek. In 2007, I wrote 400 pages of a book called Mastering AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008. In 2008, I will be writing two books: Mastering AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 and Introducing AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009.
I blog semi-seriously at www.civil3drocks.com, and quite seriously at www.civil3d.com.
I'm constantly torn between work and family. I love my job but at the same time I love cleaning up spilled juice and kissing boo-boos and reading stories. I try to find balance by freelance work, writing technical manuals and limiting my travel, but it never seems to make everyone happy, especially not myself. So I am always trying to find that balance.
I'm a touch obsessive-compulsive when it comes to technology, learning and giving my kids the best shot at a meaningful and intellegent life.

I work from home. It is a surprisingly difficult thing to do- but man, it is nice to not have to spend so much time in the car and so much money on gas. I still have childcare, but it is right down the street.

I am currently searching for a FT work from home career, in my spare time I write, blog

When I was younger, I coundn't wait for the day when I would finish college and be able to dress up for work and leave home to earn an income everyday. I thought it would validate me as a "real woman" to be able to do that on top of being a Mom, unlike my own mother who chose to stay home and let her career goals slip away. Guess all girls wish they could do something different than their own mothers, right?
Now that I am in my mid 30's and have done this for 15 years, have dealt with the challenges and ups and downs of being a working parent, I have to be honest in that I would much rather work from home! Two years ago, I started working a variety of part time WAH jobs in the evenings and weekends, around the day job and family. Having experienced this has created a deep desire in me to find a full time work from home career I can stick with. Problem is that the decent paying jobs are very hard to find. This year, after trying many things, I've decided to take a medical transcription course and get signed on with a company that will pay me decent wages and hopefully benefits.
So to me, working from home has so many advantages - like saving time, money and lots of stress.

In terms of my work/life balance style, I wake up everyday around 5:30AM to feed the dogs and do some light house keeping (i.e., laundry). I leave the house for work around 7:45 AM and drop one of my two kids off at day care. I get to work around 8:45 AM, and do not get home until about 6:30PM. I usually have to run at least 1 errand afterwork, but manage to get dinner on the table around 7:30 PM. The kids are typically in bed by 8:30 AM. Suffice it to say, my days are long. My husband works from home and helps a bit, but not as much as I would like.

Ideally, I would like to have a job that provides a short commute (i.e., less than 30 minutes from home) so that I could spend a few days in the office, but would allow me work from home 1-2 days per week. It is funny but, for a time, I was staffed on a project that allowed me to work from home. At that time, I only had one kid and paid my retired Mom to provide daycare. I was able to sneak in a few loads of laundry and start dinner early, but worked about 20% to 25% more hours than I do now because I was able to start work as early at 5:00 AM (I am an early riser). In addition, I worked with folks from all of the world, so some of the conference calls occurred at crazy hours. By the time that that role ended, I ran back to the office with a vengenance!

My name is Jessica. I am married with one daughter, Rebekah. I work full-time and can only do it with the full support of my husband. My career use to be my love and I never thought anything could replace that, until I had Bekah. She is now my love and my career pales in comparison.

Hands down no question, drive to the office. I never get anything done, the network is slower so when I am working it takes longer and for some odd reason, I never stay on a pumping schedule when I am at home but can fairly well in the office. Now if only my office was closer to home. Hmmm......

I used to work in the office before I had my daughter. I hated driving to work... getting up early, commuting, traffic, etc . Now that I have been working from home once in a while I miss it. But it is only for a moment like when i see a cute outfit or shoes but say to myself " i have no place to where that I work from home" then i am over it.
Love working from home
