  • Now that airlines charge so much extra for checking your luggage (as much as $120 per suitcase, roundtrip, on some carriers!) I find it easier and cheaper to ship some of my essentials to my destination, especially if I'm traveling around the holidays. It takes a bit of extra planning, but it's definitely worth it.

  • Toenail polish was my lifesaver after my second daughter was born six months ago. As simple as it sounds, toenail polish made me feel like a normal person and realize that, after three months of no sleep and a Cesarean scar, my life WOULD get better. I would once again be able to stay up late and watch NCIS ;) www.themamalady.com

  • Find the floor in your bedroom, organise it, if the last thing you see before sleep and the first thing you see when you wake is tidy and peaceful you sleep better and begin the day with less chaos. And surprisingly the peace and organisation in your room will spread out into the rest of the house slowly.

  • THE CROCKPOT! I have 3. One has different sized bowls. I have learned to turn almost any recipe into a crockpot recipe.

  • Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Casserole dish with ugly baked on marks around the outside? They disappear. My mom was unaware of this, as was my sister, so thought I'd share it here in case anyone else was unaware.

  • I found a new site I LOVE - Rent the Runway. It's so easy and great for moms on the go. They'll deliver a designer dress for just $50 to your home or your office and when it's done you just send it back on the mail. AMAZING for moms and for daughters too eventually! www.renttherunway.com

  • Wake up earlier. Keep one calendar with all of your appointments - work and family. Schedule "mom time" into the calendar and ask that your spouse cover for you during that time.
