If money was no issue, would I work and what would I do?
When considering this question, the Dire Straits song "Money for Nothin" instantly popped into my head:
"Now look at them yo-yos, that's the way you do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain't workin', that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and chicks for free
Now that ain't workin', that's the way you do it
Lemme tell ya them guys ain't dumb
Maybe get a blister on your little finger
Maybe get a blister on your thumb"
Now it's in YOUR head, too. Ha!
Anyhow, I would totally work even if money was no object. But I would do wacky, fun stuff that delighted me. I would also do deeply meaningful things that made the world a better place. I would spend more time playing with my daughter without my mind wandering to all those freelance projects I should get done. I would turn my passions into my work, whether it was for pay or on a volunteer basis. I would live on my own terms, on my schedule.
And I would DEFINITELY play my guitar on the MTV.
