Have I become less ambitious after having children?

Have you become less ambitious since you have had children?

I would have to say no.

I think I have become more ambitious. This is mostly due to the fact that I had some really crappy low-paying jobs when I had my first son. I was a Certified Nurses Assistant (not for very long) for $7.50 per hour. I had an okay job as a pantry person for a major casino, but I got laid off every slow season. That is not good for a person who is supporting a child alone. I delivered Pizzas for awhile too. I know I have described the dream jobs of all working Americans (ha!) but I will move on to the real reason I am so motivated to make something of myself.

When I met my husband, he was going to school to get his Bachelors in Accounting. I thought, how wonderful. He has a plan and he is succeeding at it. I had always wanted to go to school, but I could barely afford to work. He talked me into getting started. He said he knew I could be anything I wanted. We have had our ups and downs, and on-again-off-again semesters. It is hard to do it all and raise a family too.

We have two sons now. And I am still going to school. I have 6 classes to go for my Paralegal Degree. I am happy for that, but I feel that I will go on from there. I work for a law firm right now as a receptionist with the duties of a legal secretary, and hope that soon I will have earned the promotion to legal assistant. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed and wait for it to come due until I finish my degree. But I intend on actively pursuing a higher position in a law firm as soon as I have that diploma.
