Take the One-Question “Are You a Good Parent?” Test

The answer is easy, and worth remembering

When it comes to being a parent, especially a new parent, you can drive yourself insane trying to keep up with all the latest parenting do's and don’ts.

You shouldn’t let you child watch any television. You need to limit access to certain types of plastics. You need to make sure that all of your toys are safe, organic, and not from China. You need to enroll your 2-month old in all the head-start classes available… blah, blah, blah.

Do you really want to know if you’re a good parent?

Ask yourself this one question: Do you remember to hug and kiss your child each day?

If the answer is yes, pat yourself on the back. You’re a good parent. And I can guarantee that the rest of it will fall into place because you love your child enough to do the best you can.

If the answer is no. Well -- let's be honest... if you're working hard (and you must be, since you're participating here at WorkItMom.com, the answer really is yes.

  • Very good point. I hug and kiss my boys every day, all day, even though it totally grosses my toddler out. :D
