I’m not a worry wart. I don’t walk around thinking someone is going to jump me every time I go out but this felt weird. As we got off the overpass and were starting down the hill I went to turn off the music so I could hear everything and that's when I heard him running at me. I felt his hand go to my right hip and without thinking I swiveled on my left foot with the right foot raised and connected with his right thigh. He was knocked off balance but as he tried to reach in again I kicked him in the left hip and he fell back then went running. He had managed to get a hold of the iPod but somehow ended up throwing it down in the shuffle. I don't know if he really had it in his hand or just the headphone line which was still in my ears and the music on! Oh, and I was screaming “NO, NO, NO” the whole time and once he ran off I apparently was yelling POLICE and HELP b/c that's what eldest’s version of the story entails.
Sadly it's only the iPod Shuffle, hardly fancy. Filled with yoga music and even engraved to yogi mummy so he would have been pretty disappointed. He's probably disappointed anyway since he failed to rob the big lady who had one hand attached to her huge pink jogging stroller. Thank goodness for that tether, I tell you, because we were on the hill and while I wouldn't have let the girls go I was able to feel confident that he couldn't just take me or them since I was physically attached to this 75lb load.
