The Dreaded Performance Review

One mother on a mission to fight the system and still get a raise

How this will all play out in the next month as I get formally reviewed by my manager? I don't know. And I haven't figured out how exactly I will answer the questions about my development plan for the upcoming fiscal year. I'm hoping that I can be honest and tell my manager that I'm not happy, that this isn't working for me. And then we'll see how that translates into a review. Wouldn't it me nice if they paid me more to actually work less? I doubt it, but a girl can dream...

  • Love your goals, and my son is three, too - just the age where, you're right, he's FUN to be around. My annual review time falls right around the same time as my (2nd) maternity leave this year, and my plan is to return only part-time. Wonder how that will go over in the review process? Best of luck with yours. Thanks for this article; it's helped me think critically about what I want and how I need to plan for it.
