Bring Your Baby to Work Day

What gets me most about the people who are adamantly against this kind of policy is that no one is trying to work less. The people who actually want to bring their babies to work are those that are dedicated and want to get down to business. Someone who is willing to bring their child into work doesn't intend to play on the floor all day. They have more reason than anyone to prove themselves and get work done.

Most companies that allow this only do so on a rare occassion or on a temporary basis. It's a policy that's meant to make certain life stages or life situations easier until a permanent solution can be found. I do believe that it is possible to bring a baby to work and be productive. I do not believe it's for everyone. I do not believe it's appropriate for every work environment (waste disposal or race car driving, probably not such a good idea). I just think it's a great addition to the growing arsenal of options for parents looking to work towards work/life balance.

  • ha! you are very funny - i agree that it really depends on what you DO and WHERE you work. if you are cashier at a grocery store or other retail, i seriously doubt it would work to have your baby there either. however, if your office is up for it and you are more productive and the company is making more money because of it, then great! my only caution would be that it should still be a case by case basis - every office, every company, and every baby are different.
