This last one is particularly good for teens. Teens are genuinely interested in making a difference in their world. Yes, they like the expensive gizmos that “everyone” has, but they have a balancing new interest: social justice. They care about the homeless, about the environment, about the fact that children go hungry.
Step off the greed-driven treadmill. Bring a sense of giving to the season, to balance out the me, me, me. You'll all feel better for it.

I think that "rethinking Santa" is an excellent idea. I've spent the last few years going through my own evolution when it comes to that.
I only wish I had been brave enough to challenge the "jolly old capitalist pimp" when my kids were little.
But it's never too late to implement a good idea.
Thanks Mary!
