The ways that technology can be used nowadays can boggle the mind. Many times it can be associated with doing more harm than good. But did you know that there was a comprehensive website that can deliver fully functional and easy-to-use searches on sex offender data for the country? Kids Live Safe is one of our new favorite things, and here’s why.
While sex offender data is readily available on the Department of Justice and FBI websites, it can be a pain to find exactly what you are looking for. Also, it sometimes feels like you have to be a computer whiz just to do a simple search! With Kids Live Safe, you can search your specific neighborhood or search for someone by name. That makes looking into people’s backgrounds before you allow them to do work in your home so much easier. It’s also a great way to do a little research on any neighborhood you might be considering a move to.
Our favorite feature has to be the active monitoring. With this feature, the five mile radius of your home is actively surveyed so if a registered sex offender registers in the area, you will be notified immediately. We’re not sure about you, but this is what we define as being time-sensitive and need-to-know information.
Like we said earlier, the internet can be used for both bad and good. That’s why Kids Live Safe also features an award-winning internet monitoring software so that we can keep tabs on our kids while they’re surfing the internet. We were able to quickly and easily set up a customized profile for our kids. Inappropriate websites, social networking, and games can all be restricted. Real-time reports can also be set up so that we know exactly what our kids are up to, because we all know they won’t tell us.
Some practical ways that we’ve used Kids Live Safe is to look into their teachers, coaches, tutors, and babysitters. While it would’ve been nice to have this tool beforehand, it was a great way to relieve any concerns that we might have had. We were also able to create Emergency Response Profiles for our children. These include vital statistics in the horrifying event that they’re lost or taken. In the event of such an emergency, you can automatically email law enforcement via Kids Live Safe. It’s not something we like to think about, but we have to for the sake of our children.
