PB&Js are a classic staple to most kids' diets, but have you looked at the ingredient list for jams and jellies lately? They're chock-full of high fructose corn syrup and other unhealthy items. Instead of feeding those to your kids, make this easy and healthy jam instead! Not only does it taste better, but the chia seeds used in this recipe add plenty of vitamins that are great for growing kids!

  • 5 C. blueberries, or Strawberries (chopped)
  • 1/2 C. honey, pure maple syrup or plain sugar
  • 2 tbs Chia Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

In a saucepan, combine all ingredients. Mash with a potato masher or wooden spoon until berries release their juices. Cook over medium high heat for 18-25 minutes, or until thickened. Stir frequently. Mix in 2 tablespoons of chia seeds at the end. Transfer to containers and refrigerate for a month or freeze for a year. You can also use two 10-ounce bags of frozen berries. Cook berries for 2-3 minutes before mashing, then reduce cooking time to 15-17 minutes.

If you want to break out of the mold and use the jam for something else, try these phenomenal cream cheese and jelly turnovers!
