Here are some ideas to add some extra metabolic boosts to your day. The more you add, the more your metabolic rate will rise throughout the day, each and every day.
1.) Take the stairs.
2.) Park in the last spot in the parking lot so you walk more.
3.) Carry your groceries to your car instead of using a shopping cart, if possible.
4.) Walk.
5.) Clean your home.
6.) Do some gardening.
7.) Do a few jumping jacks.
8.) Try some quick yoga poses, like sun salutations.
9.) Turn on some music and dance while making dinner.
10.) Take your dog on an extra walk
11.) Actively play with your children
12.) Run up and down your stairs at home instead of going up slowly.
Keep looking for extra ways you can move and get your heart rate up during the day so you can start making an impact on your overall burn rate.
The Challenge: For two to three days, track all the activities of daily living you do that get your heart rate up. Just jot them down in a notebook or on the back of your to-do list. You can also include any formalized exercise. Count up the total for each day. Start adding more and more activities and see if you can get up to 10 or more little activity bursts throughout your day.
