Once you've done that, you're ready to think about an adoption agency. When it comes to choosing an adoption agency, networking is essential. People are quick to tell you which agencies work for them. Our Ethiopia agency AAI is wonderful. They work hard for the kids and keep their prices reasonable. I can't say enough good about them. But there are other good agencies. Talk with people who've used each agency you're considering. Don't just call the people that the agencies offer as references. Visit online adoption forums. Ask questions. Read what people say.
Also read some good books about adoption. Healthy attachment is crucial to a happy adoption. All adoptive parents should have a good understanding of what's involved as children settle into new families. Attaching in Adoption by Deborah Gray is a great book that all preadoptive parents should read.
Finally, I just want to encourage wanna-be adoptive families to not feel too intimidated by all there is to learn about adoption. We live in an age of tremendous resources. Bit by bit you'll learn what you need to know, and when you're on the other side holding that precious child in your arms, you'll know it was worth all the work!

I couldn't agree more. I am so glad different people are touched by different areas of need, because there are kids everywhere who need someone who cares.

This was the right choice for our family
I honor your commitment to adopting children from other countries...I hate when people make comments like"You should care for your own kind first"(domestic adoption)Heard that one a few times in some adoption forums
Children are children no matter where they are born and DESERVE to have a loving caring family
