On my final day of treatment, I asked everyone to vote on their favorite and promised to bring it in. The original dessert – the red velvet cake I called “a heart attack on a plate” for its decadent ingredients – won. Hugs were exchanged. Tears were shed. Calories were consumed.
Cake trumps cancer.
Take that, ductal carcinoma.
