A Day In The Life of a Real Life Mom

Working around the clock!

9:30 p.m. Lay 3-month-old down for the night (if only they were all that reliable).  Fold more laundry.  Wonder why my clean cloths never make it into the drawers instead of a pile at the end of the bed.  Try to remember what primetime TV is.  Thank God for DVR.  Dream of a day when I can actually have time to watch what I already have on DVR.

9:45 p.m. 2-year-old wakes up crying.  Try to calm him down so he doesn't wake up the 3-month-old sleeping in the crib across the room.  Doze off next to 2-year-old in bed while getting him back to sleep.

10:15 p.m. Try to have a conversation with husband about anything and everything.  Wonder when we stopped being friends.  Get sick of having to wait until commercials to get noticed.

11:15 p.m. Husband goes to work.  I try to remember the two brilliant blog ideas I had earlier.  Settle with the idea that was not so bad.  Write blog pst and wonder if anyone will ever actually read it.

11:45 p.m. (I think) Turn off TV and go back to sleep because I fell asleep at the end of the news.

3:00 a.m. Two-year-old wakes up crying.  Try to calm him down and pray he doesn't wake up 3-month-old.  Go back to bed.

6:00 a.m. Three-month-old wakes up to eat...

  • Wow, I need a break just from reading that and I am sure you have even busier days sometimes. I just found your blog and hope to check in again! I only have one child and feel overloaded at times. I can only imagine having three!. I think I will go rest now. Check out my new site (if you get a free minute....take your computer to the bathroom with you..) Google No Mommy's Perfect ...let me know if you like it.

  • Mom's world is 24-7. We did the "split shift parenting" bit when my second was born. I worked part time, mornings, and husband worked 2nd and 3rd shift. It was hard on us, but it was worth it in day care money saved and time spent with babies.

  • Its hard to be friends when you never see each other.

I've been there (working nights while my husband worked days; with just one baby it was overwhelming and lonely - I can't imagine with three). I'll be thinking of you.

  • That's it. You totally qualify for sainthood, in my book!
