5.) Your experience unfolds in predictable stages. While the successful entrepreneurs we interviewed pursued many passions and walked many paths, we found that, just as pregnancy progresses in predictable stages, so does the entrepreneurial experience. The first 22 months of a launch unfolds in four distinct phases, which we mapped and explored in Birthing the Elephant.
6.) At some point, you find your rhythm. As a new venture builds momentum, its markets often redefine themselves and push it in new directions. Finding your business rhythm is an exciting moment in the life of your venture. Like hearing your new baby’s heartbeat, your business has taken on a life of its own. It’s a great feeling!
7.) It’s a labor of love. Anyone who’s weathered a small-business start-up knows that, in the end, it’s all about passion. Just as we adore those little bundles of joy, so many women fall madly in love with their businesses -- and their vision of what they can be. May you be one of these lucky mompreneurs!
