Remember that, if your child is under 3-years old, he or she can't tell you where he or she was that day or what he or she did at home. Take advantage of user-friendly technology to track your child’s whereabouts with a simple, hidden GPS (global positioning system) that will be with your nanny all day. It will literally give you a “map” of where your nanny is taking your child throughout the day.
If you suspect something is happening, take action:
Have a nanny cam installed in your home.
Ask a friend or hire an investigator to conduct a live surveillance.
These steps may seem deramatic or extreme, but what is extreme when it comes to the safety and well-being of your child? Some may say you need to trust someone who feels right and “seems happy” and is so sweet. They will also say they do not want to jeopardize their relationship with their nanny.
Bottom Line: You should not and need not live in a state of denial about this relationship and leave it to chance that everything is going well. Hurt feelings and broken trust can be mended. A hurt or broken child? Maybe not.
