5.) FedEx is your friend! I know this is expensive, but you really ought to overnight everything! I am convinced that this tip ALONE shaved weeks off our adoptions. There are so many things you can't control when it comes to adoption; why not shave off a little time here? And in comparison to the total fees you're paying to adopt, it is a small percentage. I, for one, am very willing to pay a few hundred dollars to get my child out of the orphanage and into my arms a few weeks sooner.

6.) Gratitude. Being proactive in this process does not mean being rude. Remember to thank people profusely when they have helped you out. I always want to leave people with a good feeling about me, so that if anyone ever comes to them for a similar service, they'll have a good feeling about adoptive families and be glad to lend a hand.
What about you? Have you adopted a child? Was there something you did to help speed your paperwork along? I'd love to hear about it.
