To say I hated it right away (except for the part-time part) is not too strong. Ask my husband or my aunt or my friend in Colorado and they’ll tell you -- I hated it right away. I had confused my not wanting to get dressed in clothes that no longer fit with my not wanting to go back to a job that no longer fit my lifestyle. Worse, I had run out and gotten a new job just because it was there, which was like buying a cocktail dress on sale that’s four sizes too small in a color you don’t really like. This new job was the wrong fit for me and I suddenly deeply missed everything about my old job -- even the little tent cards in the cafeteria.
Don’t worry about how to get noticed at work. Worry when you stop caring about wanting to get noticed at work. There I was that morning in my dirty pants, looking like I was about to scrub my bathroom floor and hoping no one would even look at me. I was dressing for the job I wanted... and I wanted to be home. That grease stain made me realize that if I was going to work at all, full or part time, I should care enough about my job to actually want to be there on some level.
So moms, what you are you wearing to work today?
