Yeah, we don't even fill up all the way anymore so that there's more money to get us through until payday...half a tank here, half a tank there...more stops, but it gets us through. It's not the squeeze of the middle class anymore, it's the collapse of the middle class. Senatro Bernie Sanders of Vermont just headed a committee to examine just that ("the collapse.." is his phrase, but I agree woleheartedly). How much more can working famililes take??? Scary times, girls, scary times...

The only think that alleviates the pain of gassing up these days is that we have a wee sedan, so I always look at the screen to see what the previous customer spent. Heh heh. Usually it's waay more than we spend. Cold comfort indeed. Anyway, my husband resurrected his bike from the garage and is using it for the commute. He figures it's good for his health anyway and this is the motivation he needed to do it.

Honestly, we're just paying more. We don't do any frivolous driving anyway, so the budget is just going up. However, we're considering getting my husband a vespa so that he can use less gas on his 5 minute commute.

Wow! I know mine is up there too and I have a gas guzzling SUV! Luckily I don't have car payments and don't drive too far to work. I got the SUV because I needed one for my job and it is perfect with the baby but I severely regret it. It costs over $40 to get a half a tank of gas.
