4.) Work towards something bigger.
If you want to stop feeling so drained all the time, consider your work in the bigger picture. Instead of focusing on paying your mortgage, focus on what you’re doing to make the world -- even your tiny part of it -- a little bit better.
If you can’t focus on the bigger picture because there isn’t one, it’s time to seriously reconsider what you’re doing with your time.
5.) Keep your focus.
Take some time -- even just two minutes -- to think about why you’re running a small business in the first place. I have a feeling you’re not doing it because you thrive on stress.
Many entrepreneurs -- especially entrepreneurs who are moms -- are doing what they do because it gives them more freedom. Working yourself into the ground at the expense of all else is not the act of a free woman. Do what you need to do to actually experience some of that freedom you’ve been working so hard for.
6.) Cut yourself some slack, already.
As hard as it is for you to believe -- and I know, because I’ve been there and I’m still there -- the world will not stop if you take a day, a week, or even a month off. I disappeared for three weeks from my business because of various family issues, and nothing bad happened. I came back to 9 requests for work and the subscribers to my blog had gone up by 300.
Granted, that’s not a representative sample. But it does tell you that at the very least, not everybody goes under when they take some time off.
