.) Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, sleep, exercise, take a walk, dance, do yoga, do yard-work, clean up your clutter, do anything that gets you moving.
.) Avoid a toxic environment. Don't subject yourself to the unrealistic expectations and undue pressure from people who don't understand what you are going through. Avoid unproductive conversations.
.) Take some down time. Read a good book, watch a good movie, write in your journal, daydream.
.) Reflect on your past experience. No matter how bad things may look, most of us have been there before and we are still standing.
.) Don't underestimate the power of gratitude. Pause and take a moment to feel grateful for your life. Think of the people you love, your health, your experiences, everything you have going for you.
.) Get your priorities straight. Don't lose sight of what's really important.
.) Simplify! Get very clear on your wants and needs. Are there any adjustments you can make?
.) Laugh! As often as you can. Nothing like a good laugh to help us relax and shake anxiety. Play with your kids, tell them how much you love them.
.) Take the time to create a strong vision. You may as well take advantage of this transition and open up to possibilities. Is there anything you haven't thought of? How can you be creative? What kind of opportunities are there now that weren't there before?
.) Don't let uncertainty and fear get the best of you. Keep the voice of self-doubt at bay. Choose your next step wisely.
.) Maintain a sense of curiosity and adventure. After all, how we interpret a situation determines our emotions and our emotions determine our actions. What if you changed the interpretation? What then?
Are you ready to accept what is, let go of anxiety, and put together your action plan? I can't think of a better time to do this.
