The claims seen in Foodsaver infomercial are true. The foodsaver literally saves you $100's in grocery waste.
After watching a few too many late night foodsaver infomercials, I decided to purchase one. The prices range from approximately $99.99 to $299.99. All perform the same function which is to vacuum seal your food, but the more expensive the more automated it is. For example, the top of the line model cuts the storage bag and with a push of a button you can seal the bag on each end.
I decided to buy the cheapest model because I still wasn't sold on the idea that purchasing this gadget would allow me to save money on my grocery bill. My experiment was to use the Foodsaver religiously for the next 30 days, and I am happy to report that I cannot live without my foodsaver. Why? The amount of food which went bad was next to nil and what went to waste was a result of me not using the foodsaver -- human error.
Food which could only last in the refrigerator for days or weeks are now fresh and full of flavor for months. The same holds true for the freezer. If you put vacuum sealed food in the freezer, it will last for years versus months.
The Foodsaver is an invaluable appliance which should be a staple in every home.
