I love my shiny, blessed laptop. It’s tiny, it’s oh-so-portable, and it helps me achieve some semblance of work-life balance. So I’ve been searching for a way to protect it. The process has been much like a modern-day, working-mom version of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” Call it “Working Mommylocks and the Three Laptop Sleeves.”
The first sleeve was too big; it promised to stretch to accomodate any size laptop, and it had a fabulously bright design that made it stand out in a crowd, but a too-big bag does little to protect a precious computer, so that didn’t work.
The second sleeve was too soft; it was floppy and feminine and pretty, but I needed sturdy and secure. And, preferably, waterproof — my kids wield cups of lemonade with appropriately childlike abandon.
But the third sleeve… the third sleeve was just right. Built NY’s neoprene sleeve conformed to the shape of my laptop, creating cool bumpers along the edges when I zipped it shut. Since it’s made of the same material as diver’s wetsuits, it’s lemonade-resistent. And it’s plenty pretty. You can find one for the working mom in your life at BuiltNY.com; it costs $30 to $43 (depending on size).
