Fashion: Invisibelt

If you’re looking for a belt without bulk, look no further. The Invisibelt is an adjustable plastic strip that fastens with an interlocking clasp instead of a buckle; slip it through the belt loops of your pants and it seems to disappear under your clothes. Choose black or clear if you don’t want it to be seen, or funky pink, purple, or another a punky pattern if you do. Bonus: It doesn’t cause trouble when you go through airport security, so you can leave your outfit intact.

$16 to 19.95 each at Invisibelt.com.

Mom’s Must Haves: Sontu Cup and Saucer

I’ve been trying to drink less coffee and more tea, especially herbal tea. It’s a tough battle, I have to be honest, because I really like coffee. So I’ve been on a quest to find a really wonderful tea cup that would make my tea-drinking experience more pleasant. Came upon this one at a gift shop and so far, completely in love with it. It’s a beautiful set (there is a little green tea leaf drawing in the middle of the saucer, which you see through the glass as you drink), I love the glass, and the shape of the saucer means that the tea cools off quickly.

Great Deal: Build your own Boeing!

When your kid was little, you thought it was adorable how much he loved building things out of LEGO. Now that he’s older, he still loves LEGO, but let’s face it—sometimes your wallet doesn’t. The intricate sets for older kids can be ridiculously priced, and the deals are often few and far between.

That’s why you’ll hopefully forgive me my excitement over this LEGO Boeing 787 Dreamliner set, down to $49.98 (plus $6.95 shipping). Sure, it’s still not exactly cheap, but the same set is still going for $75 at Amazon. This is a great deal for your LEGO fanatic on a set with nearly 1,200 pieces and a final wingspan of over two feet!

Just think how smart it would be to pick this up now and set it aside for the holidays. I’m just sayin’.

Home Style: Stickr Frames

I have a big pile of photos sitting on my desk for which I keep meaning to get frames to hang them up in our basement. (We have tons of wall space there and I thought it would be fun to fill it with family photos.) The idea of finding and hanging dozens of frames, however, is making me dizzy (and making me procrastinate).

Stickr Frames seem like a perfect solution. All you do is peel off the back part, attach the photos, and stick them on the wall in whatever pattern you like. Hassle-free.

Food and Cooking: Solaire wines

Solaire wines, developed by famed winemaker Robert Mondavi, offer sophistication at an affordable price. The Chardonnay from Santa Lucia Highlands is crisp, with bright, clean flavors of citrus and pineapple; the eight months it spends aging in 100-percent French Oak is represented by a soft, smokey note. The Cabernet Sauvingnon is rich with fruit — currants and blackberries, mostly, with a hint of ripe plums — making it reminiscent of a full-bodied Red Zinfandel. (The vintners say that it will cellar well for the next six to eight years).

About $15; to find a store near you, visit Solaire.

Sponsored Post:

You’re at the playground, and your child comes stumbling over to you, complaining that his head hurts. What do you do?

If you have Pediatric SymptomMD on your iPhone or iPod Touch, you tap the screen and access a wealth of easy-to-understand information immediately, without having to deal with a cumbersome internet search or unreliable WiFi service. The information provided draws from the same clinical protocols used by pediatricians and nurses across the US and Canada and has been tested time and again over 15 years on more than 150 million queries.

Navigation within the application is simple: Choose the most appropriate sympton care guide, use the chart to determine the recommended action, and follow the care advice provided.

There are 85 care guides from which to choose, and they’re organized alphabetically, by keyword, and by body area, with links to related guidelines. The charts can help determine the course of action you should take, including whether you should call 911 immediately. There’s also some great reference material, like pediatric dosage tables by weight for over-the-counter medications, images to help you identify symptoms and injuries like rashes or bug bites, and standard First Aid information.

The application is not a substitute for a trip to the doctor’s office or emergency care, but can provide the same peace of mind that you might get by calling the nurses’ line after hours. Think of it as having a pediatrician on call, all the time.

$1.99 at the iPhone App Store and iTunes (an adult version of SymptomMD is also available for $2.99).

And the winner is…
