Running hat with a ponytail holder

Winter hats are called ‘toques’ in Canada, and regardless of the country you are living in, hats help to keep you warm. My sister-in-law and I have committed to keep running outside all winter, so I wrote a post on my personal site asking for running gear recommendations. One item that was a hot ticket was a running toque with a hole built in for a pony tail. It’s sheer genius, in my opinion.

Holiday Season: The little black dress

Categories: Fashion, Mom's Must Haves

Thanksgiving is here, and we’ll all spend the next month shuttling between work parties, family dinners, and get-togethers with friends. The one thing you need in your wardrobe is a little black dress (LBD) that is season-appropriate. One LBD can be worn so many ways. Different accessories — from necklaces to scarves — can give you an entirely new look, every time.

Two of my favorite LBDs are from MEXX, but they don’t have online shopping (BOO). The other LBD in my rotation is from the GAP, which not only has online shopping, they have a crazy 60% off sale this weekend.

With the holidays bearing down on us, I have started thinking about and buying Christmas presents. I’m trying to support ethical products as much as I can when it comes to clothing, and there are an abundance of options to choose from. I love to wear (and give) scarves, and these ones that support women in India are beautiful.

Great Deal: It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas

I know it’s a little early to be getting your Christmas spirit on (I personally prefer to wait until after Thanksgiving…), but I’ll make an exception for this deal: Amazon has 13 hours of Christmas music available as a $.99 MP3 download right now. And we’re not talking just Jingle Bells, but the Bach Guild’s selection of a variety of classics.

It’s perfect for setting the holiday tone, at under a nickel per song. That’s a great deal no matter what kind of music you like.

I have an affinity for (dresses, and) necklaces. A few years ago a friend hosted a party where all of the jewelry sold was made by women in Nepal, and all of the proceeds from the sales were shipped back to the women who made the jewelry. Ever since then, I have bought the majority of my jewelry from organizations who support women trying to support themselves in a struggling country.

Continuing in the trend where fancy-schmancy designers develop a special line that even us mere mortals can afford, Narciso Rodriguez For DesigNation has just arrived at Kohls! To celebrate the debut, all items are 30% off this week, which is a pretty good deal, already. And everyone gets free shipping on their $50+ order, automatically, and earns $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 spent.

But you want a great deal, so here you go: Through November 14th, everyone can use coupon code GRATITUDE for an extra 15% off. If you have a Kohls charge card, it’s even better—you can use coupon code SHOP30 for an additional 30% off, plus coupon code MVCFSFREE for free shipping on any size order.

Whether you’re shopping the new collection or picking up some necessities for the kids, it’s a great deal.

While at a blog conference two weeks ago, I won a gift certificate for Tilley Endurables. I never win anything! Or, I rarely win anything. Anyway, I’ve been having a hard time deciding what to buy, as I love so much of their stuff, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to order this Ponte di Roma tunic/dress.

My running partner and I have committed to running outside all winter, so I’ve loaded up on some warmer gear. I kept hearing people talk about compression pants, so I bought some from Old Navy, and they’re pretty great.

Whether your favorite is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog, Angel, or Firefly, there’s something for everyone… and many of the offerings are at their lowest prices ever.

(Is it just me, or is it starting to feel a lot like holiday shopping time…?)
