Committed: The Ties that Bond
with Angella Dykstra
I'm a mom of three, a professional accountant, and an amateur photographer and writer. I am not a marriage expert. But my husband and I take "Til death do us part" seriously, and here I'll be sharing how we keep our marriage strong while we both do that insane work-life juggle.

One of the regular readers of my personal site emailed me this week to tell me of a New York Times article she had read that she thought might be good for my column here. The article is about a challenge that a pastor gave his congregation: Have sex for seven days straight.
(The link now says you have to register with the NY Times to see the article. It’s worth a read if you want to register.)
The article is a great read that supports my personal belief that the more you have sex with your spouse, the closer you will be to each other. Besides, it’s a much more fun way to burn off your turkey dinner than by hitting the treadmill. Just sayin’…
I am sure that my husband will, ahem, rise to the occasion.
How about you? Are you up for the seven day challenge?

I was just reading the article. I think it’s a good idea, truly. I just don’t see how it works out in practice for a busy working couple. But maybe that’s just my tired stressed self talking:)

Maybe over the holidays when work is slower? Or to help beat the blahs in January?

I think it sounds like a great idea. I think I might propose that we try it later this month… Normally, I like to have sex 2-3 times a week. Lately, my husband has been so stressed that it’s been only about once a week. In talking that over with my friends, I’ve found that even with only once a week we are way ahead of the curve! They report only 1-2 times per MONTH! Is that “normal”?

I’m afraid to even mention this to my husband because I know he will be all over it (and me) but I’m not sure I could manage 7 days right now. We did something similar like that once - not as a challenge but because he went away for 10 days and that was the longest we had ever been apart. It was fun but had some serious repercussions - her name is Moira and she is 8 months old.
