Committed: The Ties that Bond
with Angella Dykstra
I'm a mom of three, a professional accountant, and an amateur photographer and writer. I am not a marriage expert. But my husband and I take "Til death do us part" seriously, and here I'll be sharing how we keep our marriage strong while we both do that insane work-life juggle.

I read this article over at The Stir and had a decent smirk on my face while reading it: 25 Worst Pet Names for your lover. Snuggleufagus? Thunder Chunk? Really?
My husband and I both call each other Honey, or Hon. I call him Honey about 75% of the time and his given name the rest of the time. It usually goes something like this:
“Honey? Honey! Hon! MATTHEW!”
I’m a treat to live with, I know.
As for me, he calls me Honey about 95% of the time. If he ever addresses me as Angella it startles me because it’s so rare that I hear him say it. And all three of our kids thought that my real name was Honey until they were about three. Yes, really.
So how about you guys? Do you have pet names for each other?

We rarely use pet names. If we do, it’s Babe. Noah is one of the only people that calls me by my whole first name. (His dad is one of the other only people to do so.)

It’s Babe for us. Both ways.
Except sometimes I call him Schmunert.

We are like you guys. We’re both “honey” and it’s rare to hear Rob call me “Hannah”. He also calls me “poppet” which has been his pet name for me ever since we started dating. Sometimes he calls me “baby” or “sweetie” but usually it’s “honey”. I just call him “hon”, most of the time.
My Dad calls my mum “Dear” and has done my whole life. He only uses her name if he’s talking about her to somebody else. It’s very odd if he ever calls her by anything other than “Dear”.

we mostly call each other “dude” and “buddy” but sometimes we throw in a “babe.”
