with Angella Dykstra
I'm a mom of three, a professional accountant, and an amateur photographer and writer. I am not a marriage expert. But my husband and I take "Til death do us part" seriously, and here I'll be sharing how we keep our marriage strong while we both do that insane work-life juggle.
Check out my Work It, Mom! profile and my blog, Dutch Blitz.

I grew up with a Dad who loves to garden. Before he switched to condo life, he had a greenhouse and would grow anything and everything. Even now, the large deck of his condo is covered with a lot of greenery.
Back when I was a young girl living in the big city, my Dad would bring me potted plants or mini rose bushes and I would inevitably kill every single one. I even killed ivy, which is pretty much impossible to kill. It’s something to do with the plants needing to be watered regularly? Or something?
I love fresh flowers, and greenery in general, so I lucked out in marrying the man I did. In addition to being an all-around fantastic guy, he worked wonders in our gardens, both the flower gardens and the vegetable garden. I can have fresh-cut roses on the kitchen table and make salads and salsa from harvesting the vegetable garden. All I do is ask him to direct me where to weed and he takes care of everything from planning to maintenance. It’s a pretty great deal.
How about you? Are you gardeners? Or do you have a black thumb like I do?

My parents are awesome gardeners and my grandparents were as well. I wouldn’t say I have a black thumb but I’ve just never had the space to garden on my own. I guess I could have asked to help growing up but I preferred to eat the produce and leave the gardening up to my parents. I am growing a tomato plant in a pot on my back deck and while it has a few green tomatoes, it is also looking rather yellow every where else. If those suckers get bigger and turn red I think it will be a miracle!

Until now I’ve had a black thumb, but THINGS ARE GROWING. I am completely shocked.

And like I’ve mentioned before, both my grandfathers were gardeners. My mom had a huge garden when I was a kid. I like to think I’ve inherited a garden gene. I do hope so, anyway.
