with Angella Dykstra
I'm a mom of three, a professional accountant, and an amateur photographer and writer. I am not a marriage expert. But my husband and I take "Til death do us part" seriously, and here I'll be sharing how we keep our marriage strong while we both do that insane work-life juggle.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, we’re heading full steam ahead to Christmas and other holidays. My kids have handed in their lists, and my husband and I have set a budget for their gifts and will soon get the ones we plan to give. As for gifts for each other, we’re doing things a little bit different this year.
In our first few years of marriage, we would set a budget for what we would spend on each other, so that it would be “equal.” We soon learned that that system didn’t quite work, for us, because the meaning behind presents don’t always agree with the price point. So, we buy what we think the other person wants/needs and we’ve always come away happy.
This year, we’ve both decided to get new iPhones for Christmas. My husband still has a 3G (I KNOW) and I have the 4. Correction. Had the 4, because Christmas came early for me yesterday. I’m heading to NYC next week and I wanted to have a good camera for my first time seeing the city all lit up for Christmas. I’ve told my husband that he doesn’t have to get me anything else, and he’s said the same, but I know we’ll get each other something to open on Christmas.
How about you? What do you get each other for Christmas?

My husband bought himself a laptop last week, so that’s basically his Christmas present. I’ll get him a couple small things, and he’ll probably spend more than necessary on me. I usually give him a budget and he goes over it anyway, so I’ve kind of given up on that idea.
