As a sort of follow-up to the topic of home workout DVDs, let’s do one more post on the subject of exercise and health, if you can possibly stand it. It’s still January, after all, and I don’t know about you but I’m still 1) trying to work off the epic number of cookies I consumed in December, and 2) baking more cookies because what else am I going to do with the leftover bag of milk chocolate morsels, other than eat them by the handful, not that, ha ha, I have done such a thing less than 24 hours ago. (MMMPH.)
I’m not sure there’s really anything that makes exercise easy, at least for me, but I do have some go-to items that make it more fun, or comfortable, or . . . well, I don’t know. Less sucky? Let’s go with that.

Gracie’s Gear Support Bra.
I really like these tops, they provide the right amount of support without resulting in UniBoob, and there’s a zippered pouch in the front that can hold keys, an iPod, or in my case, a giant wad of Kleenex for all the exercise-triggered nose-blowing I have to do.

CamelBak Better Water Bottle.
This is a very handy little water-dispensing object to have on hand: lightweight, integrated handle, bite valve so you can take quick slurps between reps, BPA-free. I love mine, maybe especially because it’s hot pink.

Maidenform Fabulous Fit Hipster Pants.
Underwear that does NOT crawl up your butt, create panty lines under tight workout pants, or otherwise cause bodily grievances while you’re exercising. These are the BEST.

Scunci Naturals Bamboo Headband.
This is the only headband I’ve found that keeps all my hair out of my face. It is kind of dorky looking — okay, maybe a LOT dorky looking — but it’s so, so comfortable.
Your turn! What products make your workout just a little more tolerable?

I love my Camelbak too, but sometimes it pisses me off because I am so ever-loving thirsty and I an’t suck hard enough (yes, yes, I know what I just said) to get the water to come out fast enough. Often, after running around kickboxing class for an hour I find myself unscrewing the top and chugging it, which is BAD since it makes me nauseous. So, maybe it’s design is such that people cannot CHUG it but slurp as one is working out.
Also, I need those panties.
Also also, for the longer-haired people, I love the hair ties that have the elastic in them. They don’t roll and slide out and keep my ponytail in nice and tight.

My Kindle–on the treadmill or the elliptical. Increase the font size and voila! I’ve bought myself an extra two miles. Or two half miles. Something like that…I’m bad at math.

I have tried so many headbands and none of them work - they are always falling off mid work-out. Thank you for this recommendation, can’t wait to try it out!

Oh! That headband looks PERFECT…thank you so much!
I have a cochlear implant in each ear, and since I got them I can’t do yoga, sit ups, even jumping jacks — they all make the processor fall off my ear and/or the headpiece come off my head. (I have two headpieces, one for each ear, that are attracted magnetically to the implants in my head.)
Anyway, it’s hard to explain (LOL) but I’ve had to eliminate so many facets of my workout routine, which left me with walking/jogging, basically. This headband looks like it will hold everything in place without too much pressure. Yay!

I love Handful sports bras! They’re lightly padded and have a little ruching in the middle to enhance the fact that Yes, I do in fact have 2 boobs. The slight V in the middle is really flattering to my broad shoulders. I bought 2 during the clearance sale last year for $20 each and am sooooo happy with them! They work best for C cups or less but are ok for bigger chests if you aren’t tons of running or jumping. I am a 34B and in any other sports bra my boobs are squished down so flat I look like a boy.
