Easter dresses make me happy to have a daughter. (Easter sweater vests over short-sleeved t-shirts make me happy to have sons.)

Floral Ribbon Dress (photo from TheChildrensPlace.com), sizes 4-14 (similar dress in 6m-4T). The Children’s Place always has nice “coordinated sibling dresses”—although if I had two girls, I think I’d want to use the opportunity to choose TWO of my favorite dresses instead of just one.

Tulle-Layered Dress (photo from OldNavy.com), sizes 6m-5T. I was surprised at how few DRESSY-dresses Old Navy had.

Daisy Dress (photo from Gymboree.com), girls sizes 3-12 (also in 3-6m - 5T)

Capri Rose Ballerina Dress (photo from Target.com), sizes 12m - 5T (similar in girls 4-6x).

Dot Dress (photo from Target.com), sizes 4-16. This is the sort of dress that doesn’t necessarily catch the eye on the rack, but then on the child it’s GLORIOUS.

Bonnie Jean Dot Eyelet Dress (photo from JCPenney.com), sizes 2T-4T. (Very similar Sears dress in 4-6x.) I love those pretty vintage colors.

Fancy Green Spring Dress (photo from Sears.com), sizes 6-9m.
K. had the most fabulous black and white dress from The Children’s Place last year. Black and white for Easter? Crazy, but it worked.

Have you found many dresses that aren’t sleeveless? Living in the frigid Midwest it’s hard for me to think of putting a 2-year old in something with skinny straps this time of year… And putting a cardigan on her will just mean she’ll spend time ripping it off and running around dragging it on the ground. Fun times!

Erin- What drives me crazy is that I have the same problem at CHRISTMAS. It’s FULL SNOW AND ICE outside, and all the dresses are sleeveless or short-sleeved.
What I do is put it over a shirt. You’d think it would look terrible, but it can look even princessy—I think because of the way princesses in fairy tales seem to wear gloves that go nearly to their armpits. I aim for snug-fit shirts in solid colors.

Ug, first the post about baby-want and then all the beautiful dresses? You’re killing me today, Swistle.
*Sigh*
The Bonnie Jean is my fav.

The Bonnie Jean Dot Eyelet dress is my favorite. I have two boys and briefly considered buying it, just in case I ever have a girl.

Can someone explain 6X to me? I just don’t get it. And having girls ages 5 and 7, it seems like I should.

Oh my goodness, the Floral Ribbon Dress is SO CUTE and I totally want to buy it. However? White? Why do I always love the white clothes? We don’t do fancy Easter things (no churches or anything) and we never go anywhere fancy, so this would be a regular play around in the house/yard outfit and that means — dirt! So I can’t buy this one.
Now, the Dot Dress. I might have a hope of keeping that one clean.

Corinne- I’ve heard it explained but for some reason can’t keep it in my mind. I think of it as being “size 6.5″—but then why no 5x or 7x?

Exactly! So I think, well, it can’t be just a BETWEEN size. So does it mean taller? Longer legs? Finally got some belly? It baffles me. I’m sure Dr. Google could cure what ails me, but I’ll just ask you guys.

The Bonnie Jean dress is adorable! I totally get what you mean about the Target dot dress looking so good on. My daughter wore something similar to her preschool graduation and it was sooo cute. Luckily my younger daughter got to wear it a couple of years later on Easter. And then I sold it at a consignment sale.
