Gift ideas for a 15-year-old girl

My mother needs to choose a gift for a 15-year-old girl who likes lip gloss, jewelry, her pet beagle, and Harry Potter. My mom is not fond of choosing gifts and I am, so I’m helping. And I’m posting, because if I’m doing the legwork anyway, it might be something you can use if you have a similar mission and would like to save the research time for something else.

Harry Potter Charm Bracelet by Islandgirlzjewelry on Etsy. I like the way it’s pretty and colorful even when you’re too far away to tell that it’s Harry-Potter-themed.

Harry Potter wall decals (photo from Amazon.com). I love this idea, except it seems like we might need to ask her mother first. Particularly since I had some wall decals up in Elizabeth’s room, and I guess I left them up longer than they should have been? In any case, they took some paint with them when we peeled them off, even though I was doing it soooooo slowly and carefully. (Luckily, the reason I was removing them was so we could paint the room.)

Gryffindor Earrings (photo from WBshop.com) (thanks for pointing out this site, Joanne!). These are more than my mom is planning to spend, but they’re just the thing: a grown woman could certainly wear them, and they’re pretty earrings—but they’re also GRYFFINDOR.

Harry Potter Class Pin Set (photo from WBshop.com). I’m inclined toward these pins: she could put them on her purse or on her backpack.

Sephora Lip Gloss set (photo from Sephora.com). Kirida tells me that this is a brand even the high-school girls like. These are small (they’re .10 ounce each; a Chapstick is .15 ounce), but that seems just right—especially for a color assortment, where maybe not all the colors will be good.

Sterling Beagle Necklace from Crave Jewelry Design on Etsy (photo from the shop). My mom found this one and I think it’s probably the best thing.

Initial Necklace with Charm by Madison Craft Studio on Etsy (photo from the shop). I would have loved this as a mid-teen.

May Birthstone Earrings (photo from Amazon.com). I like the sentiment behind birthstone jewelry: it seems to me to be saying “I’m glad you were born.”

  • Okay, what about Twilight lovers? My niece is turning fifteen this summer and they will be stopping here on a trip to Forks, Washington (the scene where the books take place!).

I need to find something she’ll love that’s still classy!

  • Probably not the first two - they seem too young for a high school girl. I think the Gryffindor earrings and pin set would be great, but also the lip glosses and birthstone earrings.

  • I am gah-gah in love with the charm bracelet for ME. Oh, really want to buy it…

  • For Harry Potter fans, be careful getting them house specific stuff unless you know what house they identify with. I identify strongly as a ravenclaw, always have, and I know people who Seriously Disdain gryffindor. With younger kids this is probably less of an issue, but teens onwards, often HP fans identify strongly with one or two houses.

  • Spot on! My daughter is into these same things and would love ALL of these! I’d never seen the HP house pins before and think I’ll get them (already have plenty of gifts for her but can’t resist).
