Spring colors!

This is the time of year my mom and I notice ourselves craving spring colors. “Oh, soon the SPRING STUFF will be here!” we exclaim as we walk through the aisles of clearance blankets in the browns and wines and golds and deep olives that looked so warm and cozy a couple of months earlier and now look heavy and dark. It’s still winter, but we’re pining for spring.

Grasslands Road Just Desserts Parfait Cups (photo from Amazon.com). Ahhhhhhh.

Geninne Zlatkis Walkabout Framed Print (photo from UrbanOutfitters.com). Spring bird! With flowers!

Porcelain Take-Out Dishes (photo from CuriosityShoppeOnline.com). These are so neat: there are a bunch of styles, all molded from take-out trays. And there’s an apple!

Chef’n SleekStor Pinch Pour Collapsible Measuring Cups (photo from Amazon.com). Measuring cups, in shades of budding new leaves!

Watercolor Birds Notecards (photo from Amazon.com). Birds! Flowers! New leaves!

DII Spring-Dots Hard Boiled Egg Cups (photo from Amazon.com). Eggs! Easter! Spring! Watercolors!

Bunny Parade print by Trafalgar’s Square on Etsy (photo from the shop). My sister-in-law bought several prints from this shop to decorate my niece’s room, and I immediately went home and ordered several myself. This one is spring and bunnies.

Melamine Mixing Bowls with Lids (photo from Amazon.com). I have the six-bowl set of these and I use them for everything. EVERYTHING. (And incidentally, the six-bowl set was $20-25 at Home Goods, which is a pretty big savings over $36-for-a-smaller-set. BUT: I’ve had my eye out for the six-bowl set and haven’t seen it again in the pastels for more than a year. So. I’m not sure where that leaves us.)

I know it’s still winter and there should be Living in the Winter Moment while it lasts—but anticipation is a big part of the fun, so I like to do that TOO. I’m anticipating spring colors, and the first signs of my tulips/daffodils coming up, and getting to go outside without boots, and NO MORE SLUSH. What are you anticipating (while still of course living in the now, AHEM)?

  • I am MOST excited about not having to bundle up in a big heavy coat and scarf. This post got me in SUCH a springy mood! And it’s raining today and the grass is still green so I can pretend it IS spring!

  • Monday it is going to be 64 degrees here. Today I am taking down the snowmen from my front door and replacing them with my pretty spring wreath. Living in the moment is find and dandy, but anticipation helps that moment be more fun, no? Or is that missing the point.

  • I am daring to dream of the day when the kids’ noses aren’t constantly running like faucets.
