Mommy Needs a Business is all about the joys of running your own business. You never drafted a complete business plan, you couldn't be further from your law school degree and you are now referring to your 12 years of law enforcement as your "former life." But you get to screen print tee shirts in your pajamas while pulling your toddler and preschooler out of vats of ink. What more could a mom want?

Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today

Oh, who am I kidding?
You know this post is about how I’m putting off until tomorrow what I could have gotten done today. Or what I should have done two weeks ago. I blame it all on my lack of design skills. I had postcards to create (and send out) before the trade show. I went on the printing website about 6 times and calculated out the production schedule. Every day I delayed, the production completion time went later and later.
Guess who is getting her postcards delivered on her vacation next week? That’s right. I am. Go ahead and feel sorry for me. I have had 7 months to order these cards. That’s right. Seven. Now I will be putting address stickers on while I am basking in the Idaho sunlight. If I’m lucky, I will be putting address stickers on them. To be honest, having address stickers means I will have sorted through the address list and picked out potential customers I want to target. I have three more days to go through a list of thousands. But that isn’t the kicker.
The kicker is that someone on the staff contacted me today to let me know that I hadn’t properly followed directions properly. There were directions? I had read them. Honest, promise. It just got very complicated. I thought I had done it right. The girl was so nice. She walked me back through the directions and I fixed my problem.
At the last minute I caved and upgraded shipping. I can’t have these bad boys floating around Idaho. No good can come from that. I have learned my lesson. Next time I will just get it done when it needs to get done. The stress isn’t worth it. Trust me.

hahaaa isnt that so annoying when you put something off forever and litterally create your own little stress monster? i hate that! i keep trying to figure out ways around it. yuck.
you should have asked us internet types about printing months ago when we could have maybe gotten you some discounts!
but hey, now you know, and next time when you get them printed after only putting it off for 3 months instead of 7 you can be proud of your improvement! you are mearly setting a benchmark from which you can show progress

I am the queen of it ! Wow, I thought I was alone. And you know, when the pressure of the deadline appears, it is like you are running around with your head cut off to get it done. Fast ! Why can’t we do it that way the first time ? LOL ! I don’t know. But, you have inspired me. I will do what I need to do, when it needs to get done. Thanks !!!
