Trend Watch - Neon

I have to be honest with you. It took everything in my power not to entitle this post, Absolutely Crazy Trend Watch (WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE THINKING?) - Neon. Let’s be serious for a second. Neon? Like the Day-Glo Eighties phenomenon? Who wants to re-hash that nightmare?

Well, apparently, W magazine, Harper’s Bazaar and many other fine publications are more than willing to shove neon right back in our faces.

(Looking for a rock to crawl under.)

Is it possible to alter this trend to make it work for the majority of women who would rather not be reminded of acid green Ray-Bans and jelly bracelets from our school days? Of course we can! This blog is called The Working Closet, isn’t it?

Let’s turn on thoughts away from John Hughes movies and oversized sweatshirts to focus on cheerful hues that will celebrate the upcoming season without scorching our retinas. Deal? I’ve found some darling, brightly-hued pieces that should spice up anyone’s wardrobe.

  • I know- Neon right?? But I love the green. I bought a similar shirt to the BR one at Anthropologie that is fantastic. “Rustled Breeze Top”

  • ew neon!! but what you pictured here is not ‘neon’ that i remember - i liked all of it! maybe we are confusing ‘neon’ with ‘color’?

plus the styles and cuts right now of clothing is so much more fun and completely different than the basic ovesized t-shirts and other horrible clothing of the 80s…*shudder*

i haven’t been out there shopping for spring/summer clothes yet… now you have me all nervous! (eh works been killer lately)

  • If it hadn’t already been sold, I would have bought a sofa yesterday in the exact color of the skirt above. I have no idea why. But color feels really good now.

(I had a different picture in mind of neon, too.)

I also love the saffron top above … would love walls that color!
