Denim gone wrong

Categories: basics

I feel like we all need a good laugh this weekend. Fortunately, the Gap is ready to oblige.

Gap is trying to revive their brand (again) with a line of quirky denim pieces — after all, that’s where they got their start, doing great denim. Unfortunately, this is not great denim.

Denim jump suit. In case you were feeling nostalgic for the 1970s. If you’re old enough to remember the jump suit from the 1970s, you will remember what a pain they were to get on and off when you needed to pee. Not a trend to bring back.

Maybe Amish Prairie Settler is more your look? Gap’s got that too.

Nothing says “sexy summer” like a floor-length denim jumper. That has to be layered over a tee for appropriate coverage.

Then again, it could be a romper. And unless you are under the age of 12, there is no reason to be sporting a denim romper. Ever.

Even Britney Spears has given up these shorts. The fact that the pockets are eyelet (and thus fancier?) does not make this ok.

  • The romper with the platform shoes is especially fetching.

  • Oh Gap. Why? Just… Why?

  • Oh, the poor Gap…..what has happened. I went in the other day and couldn’t find ONE thing. I tried on a pair of shorts that have been styled in many magazines recently and they were terrible. I miss the Gap of old, basic and well fitting.

  • Thanks for the laugh. I thought high waist denim was mugly but this wins hands down.
