Hello Ladies,

Well, I'm really proud to announce the birth of my first child, jackson! He surprised us by arriving 2 weeks early!!! As some of you have seen, we had a scare on Friday and went to the hospital. It ended up being nothing but the next day, my water broke (2 am). I was pretty calm. I had a few contractions during the night and then went for a long walk in central park with my husband (who by the way thinks I'm insane and should be rushed to the hospital, let alone walking 1.5mi in the park). I did call my dr as soon as my water broke and she suggested we wait till i had some serious contractions. I was just following her advice and was trying to promote those contractions. What i didn't know is that I couldn't feel my contractions (I guess I am one of the very lucky few who don't have that pain sensitivity when it comes to contractions). By the time we arrived to the hospital I was over 5 cm dilated. 4 hrs later we had a healthy, beautiful baby boy. My husband, who is afraid of blood was watching the whole thing and even cut the umbilical cord!!!! I was so proud of him... of course he cried for a long time afterwards... i could hear him sobbing on the phone as he was calling our friends and family to tell them about our new addition.... So there we are.... having a little one as part of our family and joining sleepless club!!!

Thank you all for wonderful wishes and notes while I was in labor.... Means so much to me and I feel so lucky!!!

  • Congratulations on the newest addition to your family! How lucky to not feel contractions either. Now if I could just figure out how to do that... :)

  • ¡Felicitaciones! Mazel tov! Always nice to hear about a good, happy delivery ("happy delivery"...sounds redundant). I was lucky too when my DS was born: water broke, didn't really have contractions. By the time we reached the hospital, 9 cm. From start to finish: 4 hrs. (Don't get me wrong: hurt like heck at the end!) The delivery goddess sure was smiling on me that day, and I'm glad she was at you too! Congrats to you & hubby.

  • I hate you...;) not really. That it so terrific that it went so well for you. How cool your little guy was that excited to meet his parents that not only couldn't he wait two weeks, he had to rush out as soon as he could and not cause you much trouble. Welcome to the mama club. It's all it's cracked up to be!

  • Congratulations! Welcome to the world little guy. Best wishes to you and your family during this special time. It goes so fast and then they're smearing peas in their hair. Not that that isn't a special time too. :)
